Converting Content ~ Into Sales
by Presenting Your Ideas Into Words
When I was a little kid my favorite “toy” was a typewriter. I used to have it set up on my mom’s antique sewing machine table with a stack of paper and a cup of pencils. My parents even let me get a goldfish in a bowl and set him on my “desk”. I would sit and pound away at the keys until my fingers hurt. I loved it. From then on I knew for certain that I always wanted to be a writer.
Later on in school I was that kid who loved learning spelling, parts of speech, diagramming sentences, vocabulary, writing reports and essays, and simply anything that had to do with language and words. In high school I had more notebooks that I was filling with stories than I ever used for classes. I have a permanent callous on my finger that I’ve had since I could hold a pencil. I love writing.
So what’s a complete, genuine vintage set of bagpipes worth on eBay? Back in 2004 I didn’t quite know, but when my dad asked me to sell his set we sure found out. Not only that, I got to find out how to get pictures onto eBay from my Canon AE-1, all about customs forms, and shipping UPS to Canada on my first sale. From then on I delved completely into everything that had to do with selling online and found something else I truly loved doing.
Since then I’ve learned the ins and outs of customer service, WordPress, retail, eCommerce, web design, SEO, and effective marketing. In addition, I’ve been writing product descriptions, professional emails, headlines, articles, top-ranking website content, advertisements, and freelance query letters, writing and editing for clients.
A few years later I accidentally began taking on clients for web design, content editing, book editing, writing, and email marketing. In my online networking, I would run across people who needed help. Naturally, I offered to help them in any way that I could, because helping people always has the potential to be wonderful. Since then my clients have been children’s authors, real estate agents, a missionary, board game designer, and retailers.
I have learned and studied every aspect of the publishing industry that I can dig into.
I am also a certified freelance editor with the Christian Pen Institute and have experience with marketing and publicity.
