Who Am I?

Below, you can read about me in the professional aspect, in which I tried to be brief – but it seems impossible.

I’ve done a lot in my life.

Here it’s my birthday and I’ve been thinking #WhoAmI?

Not just all my great accomplishments, how I present myself to the world, and how good I am at this, that, or the other, but who am I really? What about the good, the bad, and the ugly?

So here’s a few things:

I’m a mother of six.

I quit high school.

I was married at 16 and had my first child at 17.

I started earning my own money at age 6.

Then, I got to thinking – how do these things shape us?

For my Writing is Art Magazine I want everyone to be able to be a part of it. I don’t want it for just “the best” writers – of course, we want the writing to be good, clear and concise – but, at the same time, I want people to be able to express themselves without worrying about perfect grammar, syntax, or if their work is good enough. I’m 44 years old and I’ve spent the majority of those years thinking I was never good enough for anyone or anything. I don’t want my readers or anyone who sends their work to my magazine to worry about being good enough.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t send your best work – please, always do your best. But that’s half the point with the magazine title – Writing is Art – just the same as painting, drawing, music, etc.

We have rules, guides – we learn them, so we can bend them, break them, and express ourselves despite them.

So this is a way I want people to be able to express themselves – I want to know – who are you?

We can post short bits on Twitter – and you can send me your stories.

Everyone in the creative community, writers, artists, and musicians – tell me #WhoAmI – in your story.

Let’s keep it around 1,000 words or so.

I want to publish as many stories as I can each month.

Success Consultant ~ Converting Content ~ Into Sales

by Presenting Your Ideas Into Words

When I was a little kid my favorite “toy” was a typewriter.  I used to have it set up on my mom’s antique sewing machine table with a stack of paper and a cup of pencils. My parents even let me get a goldfish in a bowl and set him on my desk. I would sit and pound away at the keys until my fingers hurt. I loved it. From then on I knew for certain that I always wanted to be a writer.

Later on in school I was that kid who loved learning spelling, parts of speech, diagramming sentences, vocabulary, writing reports and essays, and simply anything that had to do with language and words. In high school I had more notebooks that I was filling with stories than I ever used for classes. I have a permanent callous on my finger that I’ve had since I could hold a pencil. I love writing – I can’t not write.

So then, what’s a complete, genuine vintage set of bagpipes worth on eBay? Back in 2004 I didn’t quite know, but when my dad asked me to sell his set we sure found out. Not only that, I got to find out how to get pictures onto eBay from my Canon AE-1, all about customs forms, and shipping UPS to Canada on my first sale. From then on I delved completely into everything that had to do with selling online and found something else I truly loved doing.

Since then I’ve been doing customer service, WordPress, eCommerce, web design, SEO, and business management for clients. In addition, I’ve been writing everything from professional emails, headlines, press releases, profiles, articles, top-ranking website content, blog posts, advertisements, and freelance query letters, to curriculum and novels.
